Giants Of The Ocean
Whales are among the most impressive animals in the ocean, especially when you consider their size, intelligence, and interesting behavior that varies from breed to breed. These creatures continue to fascinate scientists, and here are just five of the coolest to learn about.
1. Blue Whale
As the largest animal known to have ever lived on Earth, this alone makes the blue whale a fascinating creature. However, despite its enormous size, it feeds mainly on tiny krill, consuming massive amounts of them in a single day.
2. Humpback Whale
Known for its long, complex songs and energetic breaches above water, the humpback whale is a marvelous animal. It also undertakes some of the longest migrations of any mammal, traveling thousands of miles between feeding and breeding grounds.
3. Orca
The orca, also known more commonly as the killer whale, is actually the largest member of the dolphin family. These creatures are highly intelligent, live in close family groups, and use coordinated hunting techniques. Its social complexity and clear black-and-white coloring have made it one of the best-known marine animals.

4. Narwhal
Famous for their long spiral tusk that makes them easily recognizable, the narwhal is an interesting marine animal. Their tusk is actually not a horn, but an elongated tooth! Found in Arctic waters, you won't see these creatures around your coastal waters.

5. Sperm Whale
Did you know the sperm whale has the largest brain of any animal currently living? It's also capable of diving to great depths and can stay underwater for impressively long periods. Its deep-diving ability and unusual biology make it one of the most interesting whales in the sea.
