5 Wildlife Animals That Are Totally Unsafe To Approach

Stay Far Away!

Wild animals can be fascinating to watch, but don't lose track of where you are and accidentally get too close. Lots of wild animals should only be admired from afar, especially because they feel threatened when you enter their vicinity. Though you should always be careful around wild animals, here are 5 you need to be particularly wary of.

1. Bears

Bears might look cute and cuddly, or even calm while they're just wandering through the forest, but these are powerful animals you shouldn't underestimate. A mother bear with cubs is especially dangerous if she sees you as a threat, so the safest choice is to keep far away.

2. Hippopotamuses

Hippopotamuses might look heavy and slow, but they are highly territorial creatures that are surprisingly fast on land. They're responsible for many dangerous encounters in areas where people and hippos share rivers or lakes, so approaching one is a very poor decision.

3. Moose

Despite looking like large, peaceful animals, moose tend to be quite aggressive if they feel cornered, annoyed, or protective of their young. Best to not risk a dangerous encounter, especially given their enormously large size.

4. Crocodiles

Given that you can easily see their sharp teeth and scary appearance, it only makes sense that crocodiles are creatures to stay far, far away from. These animals are patient hunters and tend to remain hidden in the water, striking when you accidentally get too close.

5. Bison

Bison may look slow and steady, but they can run surprisingly quickly and change direction with alarming ease. In parks and open ranges, people sometimes underestimate them because they seem used to human presence, but that's exactly why you need to practice care and caution.
