5 Reasons Why You Need A Pet In The Family

Your Family Deserves an Expansion

Family pets are no joke—they require proper care and all the love you can spare, not to mention additional costs of food and vet care. They spend years with your family, and it’s a big commitment to welcome them into your home. But animals are so much more than a fuzzy set of ears; they’re a lifelong friend that enriches our lives. With that, let’s share a few reasons why you need one in the house!

1. They Lower Stress

Okay, we won’t lie. Pets increase stress levels sometimes. Yes, they gnaw on the furniture or get into the garbage pail. However, with the bad comes the good, and you’ll have more stress-free days than anything else with a pet. There’s nothing like a furry friend there to greet you every day and accept you as you are.

2. Pets Teach Kids About Responsibility

If you have rugrats in the house, pets can teach them all about basic responsibilities. They’ll need to feed their animal, play with them appropriately, and pick up after their mess. They’ll also learn about body language and what it means to commit.

3. Unconditional Love

No one loves you like a pet…except some cats, probably. All jokes aside, our pets depend on us for food and shelter, and in return, we have boundless affection that makes our hearts sing. That kind of connection does a whole lot of good for the soul.

4. They Get You Outside

There’s nothing worse than having to walk your dog when you’re sick—but that won’t happen all the time. More often than not, your pet will encourage you to step out of the house and bring them along for new adventures, which bodes well for you both! Exercise also improves your mental well-being, so it’s a win-win.

5. Improved Mental Health

Speaking of mental health, research shows that pets have a serious impact on our mood. They bring down our blood pressure, they relieve stress, and they love us unconditionally; that trifecta can reduce depression symptoms and even ease anxiety.
