The Best Things Come in Small Packages
Large dogs often get all the attention—we can’t say we blame pet parents; most people opt for cuddly teddy bears they can play fetch with! However, small breeds bring just as much love and shouldn’t go overlooked. Let’s take a peek at some of the best babies to welcome home.
1. Yorkshire Terrier
The last thing we want when we get a new furry friend is to worry about their health. Luckily, this terrier is a long-lasting canine companion, often kickin’ it around the house for at least 12 years, though this affectionate baby can go for 17 years in the best cases. They’re also intelligent, loyal, and surprisingly good watchdogs.
2. Chihuahua
This little guy gets a bad rap, but they’re not as yappy as people think. When they’re taken care of properly, Chihuahuas are playful pups who bond closely to their parents. They also have big personalities, making them a great addition to just about any house.
3. Scottish Terrier
Is there anything better than a dog with a beard? We didn’t think so! Scottish terriers are intelligent, affectionate, and make terrific watchdogs. Don’t let their size fool you, either; they need plenty of exercise, so they make great pets for any active lifestyle.

4. Shih Tzu
The only thing you have to worry about with these guys is just how friendly they are! Happy with head scratches and a good cookie, they’re perfect for small spaces and can be taught any number of tricks. They also aren’t very territorial, so you can introduce them to other pets with ease.
5. Pomeranian
This family-friendly pooch is the very definition of a show dog. Complete with big personalities and bigger smiles, pomeranians are fun-loving friends who can’t wait to learn new tricks. You won’t have any trouble training them either; they’re eager to please and pick up on lessons really quickly.
